Characteristics of Plate Heat Exchangers in Industrial Chillers
1. High heat transfer coefficient
The plates are made of materials with high thermal conductivity, such as stainless and acid resistant steel, industrial pure titanium, carbon steel, and copper for heat exchangers. After cold stamping, different corrugated structures are formed, and plate corrugations can cause turbulence in the fluid at a small flow rate. Therefore, plate heat exchangers have a high heat transfer coefficient. Under the same conditions, its heat transfer coefficient is 3-5 times higher than that of ordinary steel shell and tube heat exchangers. The heat exchange area is approximately 1/3-1/4 of the shell-and-tube heat exchange area.
2. Compact structure
Due to the close arrangement of heat transfer plates and small plate spacing, and the corrugated surface of the plates after stamping greatly increases the effective heat exchange area, the heat exchange area contained in the unit volume is large, and the floor area is significantly smaller than that of the same heat exchange area of the shell and tube heat exchanger. At the same time, the metal consumption is small, and the weight is light. Generally, no special foundation is required, and no additional space is required for on-site assembly and disassembly.
3. Reliable and durable
The sealing gasket of plate heat exchanger utilizes the principle of double sealing structure, which increases the internal friction force between the rubber gasket and the plate, greatly reducing the sliding amount of the rubber gasket; At the same time, a better honeycomb shaped peripheral rigid structure is adopted, which tightly locks the rubber pad on the inner side, greatly improving the overall sealing performance of the heat exchanger.
4. Convenient cleaning
The plates tightly assembled by the compression bolts can be loosened or removed for mechanical or manual cleaning after the compression bolts are removed, which is very convenient for heat exchange equipment that requires frequent cleaning.
5. Multi medium heat exchange
If a plate heat exchanger has intermediate partitions, a device can conduct heat exchange of three or more media (multiple intermediate partitions). Multi medium plate heat exchangers are often used in dairy processing. Shell and tube heat exchangers cannot achieve heat exchange of multiple media in a single device.
6. Easily change the heat exchange area or process combination
As long as a few plates are added (or reduced), the heat exchange area that needs to be increased (or reduced) can be achieved. Changing the arrangement of plates or replacing several plates can achieve the required process combination to adapt to the new heat exchange conditions. It can greatly reduce the total investment cost of the project, and further demonstrate the economic and practical value of the plate heat exchanger.
